Last year, students from University of Cambridge packed over 700 law books on behalf of the ILBF for the new European Law Library at West Ukrainian National University (WUNU). The books were sent to Poland, where Professor Fryderyk Zoll loaded them into a donated fire truck alongside medical supplies. After delivering the books to the University, the fire engine continued to eastern Ukraine to support communities close to the front line of the conflict.
This year, the ILBF helped introduce De Gruyter Brill to WUNU, and the publishing house stepped forward with a generous donation of its publications. Once again, Professor Zoll undertook the journey, driving a second donated fire vehicle to Ukraine filled with books to help stock their European Law Library.
Every delivery of books has its challenges. Sometimes, the solution is incredible individual effort, and a fire engine.
Our thanks also go to Rebecca Ruf and Maciej Bujalski for making the donations possible.
