Hannah Zia from the University of Cambridge was the runner up in our law undergraduate essay competition 2025. Hannah is a fourth-year undergraduate who returned from studying at the University of Auckland last year, and a competitive rock climber. Over the past year Hannah has been the Head Pro Bono Coordinator at the Cambridge University Law Society (CULS). Her essay was praised by the final round judges and we are delighted to publish it here.

We are currently producing a summary of the themes that arose from all of the entries to the law undergraduate essay competition, which we will be publishing shortly. The goal is to continue to contribute to the debate about the rule of law, its current and future challenges.
