The ILBF’s 2025 law undergraduate essay competition is now closed.
Thank you to all the students who have taken part – we are delighted to receive your essays and we are looking forward to hearing what the next generation of lawyers has to say on the challenges facing the rule of law in the next 20 years.
A team of judges from across the legal profession will select the best essays for final judging by:
- The Rt. Hon. Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, former Lord Chief Justice and ILBF founder and patron
- The Rt. Hon. Lord Carnwath of Notting Hill CVO, former Supreme Court Justice, and founding member of the EU Forum of Judges for the Environment, and of the Global Institute of Judges on the Environment
- Yasmin Batliwala MBE, Chief Executive of Advocates for International Development: A4ID
The finalists will be invited to attend the ILBF’s 20th anniversary event in London on 14th May when the winner will be announced by by The Rt. Hon. the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The prize for the winning essay is:
- a week’s internship in summer 2025 with Brown Rudnick
- publication of the winning essay in the Commonwealth Lawyers Association Newsletter
- publication of the winning essay on the ILBF’s website
The runner up essay will also be published on the ILBF website.
