1 week to go!

Just one week to the deadline for our law undergraduate essay competition 2025!

Looking for some words of inspiration and encouragement? Yasmin Batliwala MBE, Chief Executive of Advocates for International Development (A4ID) and one of our final round judges, gives her thoughts on why entering the essay competition is a challenge worth taking up and how taking the time to participate and engage with the essay question is a valuable step in your legal career which also aligns with a greater mission within the legal community.

You can watch Yasmin’s film here.

Reminder: Deadline this year is 22nd April at 4pm. The essay title is:

‘What will be the challenges to the rule of law in the next 20 years?’

All the competition details are set out on the dedicated competition page here. The page includes links to the launch of the competition by Baroness Carr, the Lady Chief Justice, and to a recording of our recent online panel event where expert panellists discussed what the rule of law may look like in 20 years’ time.

We are looking forward to reading your entries and to hearing what the next generation of lawyers has to say. The finalists will be invited to our 20th anniversary event on 14th May.

So, as Yasmin says: “Step up, write boldly, and be part of something bigger.”

Good luck!
