If you missed our panel event on 25th February, or you want to refresh your memory of the discussion, you can watch the recording here.
Kindly hosted by LexisNexis and moderated by James Harper, General Counsel of Global Nexis Solutions, the panel event brought together experts from across the legal profession to discuss the rule of law and to consider this: ‘The Rule of Law – what will it look like in 20 years’ time?’.
Our panelists shared expertise derived from decades of experience both in the UK and internationally from a range of different perspectives to explore what the rule of law will look like on the international stage, in relation to the judiciary, for business and for the individual. The panel provided unique insights on what the last 20 years has brought, the status quo and the challenges to look out for in the next 20 years. The rule of law is ‘hard won and easily lost’ as the panel noted, and all lawyers and citizens have a role to play in protecting it.
The audience was drawn from across the legal community to represent academia, government, business and NGOs. For law students thinking of entering the ILBF’s law undergraduate essay competition, the event was full of insights and ideas to inspire responses to the essay competition question. See below for our competition page with details of how to enter.
The ILBF is incredibly grateful to the panelists for joining and supporting the work of the ILBF: Professor Tetyana Antsupova – Senior Fellow at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL), Professor Parosha Chandran – King’s College London and One Pump Court, Patrick Stevens – Rule of Law Director, International Justice Development and Derval Walsh – Partner, Brown Rudnick. And a thank you to James Harper for moderating.
