The International Law Book Facility was proud to be the charity partner at the 2016 Halsbury Legal Awards which took place in London last week, and we are very grateful for their support. The awards recognise truly exceptional contributions across the whole legal community and we congratulate the truly worthy winners and nominees.

We were delighted for the opportunity for two of our patrons to speak to the guests at the awards about the work of the ILBF. Christian Fleck, Managing Director of LexisNexis UK and The Rt Hon The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, Lord Chief Justice described some of the work that has been taking place and showed the following short video clip.

Access to legal texts and resources is something we take for granted in the UK, but for so many lawyers and judges around the world, this is just not the case. The ILBF is playing its part in equipping lawyers and judges now and in the future with the right resources to allow the rule of law to flourish and thereby contribute to the peaceful and democratic development of their countries. With the support of the legal community in the UK, we can continue to do that, by recycling good quality legal texts and giving them a new lease of life in jurisdictions all over the world.

The demand for legal texts from the UK is greater than ever. The generosity of the guests on the night of the awards means that we raised a significant sum which will help to fund a large shipment of books to Nepal, a country working hard to rebuild after the devastating earthquakes in 2015 and to embed the rule of law through its new constitution.
