ILBF expands global reach with law book donations

Written by Laiba Choudhury, ILBF Shipping Coordinator

From the heart of the UK’s legal community to universities and courts across the globe, the ILBF is turning the page on access to legal knowledge.

Over the last few months, I have worked with volunteers to pack shipments at the Royal Courts of Justice and Clifford Chance, sending law books to destinations as diverse as the Episcopal University in South Sudan, Woldia University in Ethiopia, Justice Defenders in Kenya, two universities in Argentina: Universidad Nacional de San Juan and Universidad Católica de Cuyo, and several institutions in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Woldia University expressed their gratitude, saying:

‘We are very much grateful to ILBF for supporting us and for your donation of important Law Books to our Law School. Our faculties and students will, needless to mention, immensely benefit from this generous donation.’

In South Sudan, at the Episcopal University the donated books are already assisting the lecturers and students:

‘This is such a huge encouragement to the University – especially the School of Law – and a major enhancement of our law library resources!’

In Iraqi Kurdistan, the ILBF partnered with the Civil Development Organisation (CDO) and Africa House London to deliver books to the Sulaymaniyah Appellate Court, Halabja University and the University of Sulaimani.

‘On 18th of Jan 2026, a delegation from Civil Development Organization – CDO visited University of Sulaimani and presented (53) law books to the library… The aim of this donation is to strengthen the capacity of students and researchers in the field of law and support universities in Iraqi Kurdistan.’

The journey doesn’t stop there. I am working on upcoming shipments to the Zambia Commercial Courts and the Supreme Court of Tonga, with future plans for Somaliland, Ukraine, the Supreme Court of Mauritius, and Lesotho.

With every box packed and every book shipped, ILBF is helping to shape the next generation of lawyers, judges, and justice defenders around the world.
