Opportunity for volunteers

It’s volunteer recruitment time!

Are you a lawyer in the making and have started the GDL, LPC, or BPTC, or a master’s course in legal or development studies? Are you looking for a volunteering opportunity to hone skills for your career and make a contribution to a very worthwhile cause? We are recruiting for two student volunteer roles: Administrator and Shipping Coordinator and we’d love to hear from you.

The ILBF provides legal texts to institutions all over the world involved in access to justice and legal education. The charity is able to function at a low cost because of its team of dedicated volunteers from across the legal profession. We need an Administrator and a Shipping Coordinator to join the team of volunteers to ensure that the charity’s mission is carried out as efficiently and effectively as possible.   You can learn more about our work and some of those involved in the ILBF by watching our short film.

Here’s what this year’s student volunteers say about the experience of volunteering with the ILBF:

‘Volunteering with the ILBF has been fun and rewarding. I have had a chance to meet trustees, judges and barristers and gain insight into the operation of this great charity as well as listen to inspirational stories and about the book recipients. I also had the opportunity to help pack books at the Royal Court of Justice! The role engages a variety of skills such as time management, communication and knowledge of legal texts. I would strongly encourage anyone who is keen to further develop their legal and office skills and have a chance to network with prominent figures in the legal sector to apply for the volunteer role. ILBF is continually growing and there are great plans for the future with plenty of room for enthusiastic volunteers who wish to help!’

Viviene Taepp, ILBF Admininstrator

‘Being part of the ILBF over the past year has been an utter pleasure! It has been an invaluable education, offering an insight into some of the challenges that face the rule of law in the developing world, the opportunity to meet incredibly welcoming members of the senior judiciary, developed key skills which will undoubtedly be of great assistance when entering work in the legal profession and entirely supported by an incredibly enthusiastic, friendly and accommodating team. Regardless of all the fantastic opportunities available to you, you’ll make a real difference to people just like you but who don’t currently have the same resources at their fingertips. For anybody just beginning their journey into the legal world, or for those nearing the end of study, I can’t recommend volunteering with the ILBF enough.’
