Seen in the photo are new ILBF volunteer staff: Quoc Tran, Annabel Wilkinson and Eloise Koniezcko, standing next to a total of 118 boxes of legal books, comprising of law reports, practitioner and student texts, kindly donated by supporters of the ILBF. These texts will shortly make the long journey to four separate ILBF partner organisations around the world: Access to Justice Law Center (Sierra Leone), University of Namibia, University of the West Indies (Jamaica and Antigua).
Maureen Hyman, part time tutor at the UWI in Antigua, welcomes the impact the donated books will have on the organisation:
‘I studied in the UK and am appalled at the lack of books available for students who study law. Our library is sad, yet degree programmes are being offered as well as associate degree programmes. I would also like to give books to the state college because many people are making great sacrifices to improve and develop their careers to be the best they can be. Often shortage of money is a big problem and if we can help with books it would be a great help. I lectured on a course without the text UWI recommended even being available in the library.’
