Recipients

The ILBF sends books to not-for-profit organisations throughout the world. Our books are used in different ways depending on the organisation. Where the recipient is a body that provides legal or professional training, for example, the Cambodian University of Specialities, the Kathmandu Law School, the University of Zimbabwe or the Bangladesh Bar Council, ILBF books are used to train lawyers and law students. Where the recipient is a legal aid organisation or charity, such as the Guyana Legal Aid Clinic, the Legal Defence and Assistance Programme (Nigeria), or the Paralegal Programme (Zambia), ILBF books may be used when preparing cases or giving advice, empowering at-risk citizens through the legal system and improving local perceptions of legal process as a tool for justice. Where the recipient is a court or government body, such as the Office of the Attorney General (Bhutan), the Attorney General’s Ministry (Belize), the Rwanda Supreme Court or the Sindh and Lahore High Courts (Pakistan), ILBF books are used to assist the court in grounding their decisions in established law and to provide a point of comparison with other jurisdictions.

Receiving feedback from recipients, including photos of the books being used, is one of the most rewarding parts of the ILBF’s work. Below is a small selection of the feedback that the charity has received.
